Aloha United Way's Society of Young Leaders Kicks Off Its Annual School Supply Drive for Homeless Keiki

Jun. 17, 2015

It’s that time of year again when school ends and Aloha United Way's Society of Young Leaders begin the collection of school supplies for homeless students for the start of the new school year. This year, public school students go back on July 29 and the Society of Young Leaders would like to ensure that when they return, they all have the appropriate educational tools that they need to start the year right.
Items collected go to support keiki from K-12 grades through a relationship with the Department of Education and their homeless liaisons. This has been one of the Society of Young Leaders most successful drives…and they hope to be able to continue that tradition.
For the past 8 years, the Society of Young Leaders have collected and donated over 10,000 backpacks and kits, no small feat!
Donations can be dropped off to any Pier 1 Imports location on Oahu, all Jamba Juice locations on Oahu (except for UH Manoa) or at Aloha United Way's office. For more information, please call Aloha United Way's Marketing Department at 543-2201.
