SPECIAL MAHALO TO KHON2 FOR THIS MORNING'S NEWS COVERAGE OF OUR CAMPAIGN SEASON

Aug. 19, 2015

Aloha United Way recognized on KHON2 this morning,  (http://khon2.com/2015/08/19/aloha-united-way-kicks-off-its-2015-giving-campaign/) as we kick off our 2015 Giving Campaign. President and CEO Cindy Adams says, "This campaign is truly special in that it unites and harnesses the caring power of our community to tackle Hawaii’s biggest problems and create a collective impact year-round. The funds raised through AUW’s annual campaign stay right here in our community, helping hundreds of thousands of local people and supporting hundreds of nonprofit organizations."

Thomas Kiyabu works as a division manager at UPS Hawaii. This year, he is the AUW campaign chairman, and describes this year’s campaign focus. "It’s on the theme of our wants versus needs. Our hope is that we ensure the many people supported by AUW’s nonprofit organizations have a way to meet their most basic needs. Our local business sector plays a huge role in this, allowing for collaboration with government and the nonprofit community to drive social change."

The annual campaign kick-off event is on Friday, August 28 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Tamarind Park in downtown Honolulu. The kick-off will feature hundreds of campaign participants, who will rally together and sign wave along Bishop Street and King Street to raise awareness around giving back.
